The Glacier is the plunge you build a backyard around. Timber staves in 38 mm — not the 15 mm most imports ship — banded in stainless, wrapped around a brushed 316 stainless steel liner. That liner spec is the one worth arguing over: 316 is the marine grade, and it is the difference between a plunge that still looks right in ten years and one that pits and stains where chilled water sits against a weld.
Thermo pine is heat-treated timber. The treatment drives moisture out of the cell structure, which is what gives it dimensional stability and rot resistance outdoors — the right default for a vessel that sits full of cold water through a wet season.
Before you buy — safety
Heat and cold immersion are not suitable for everyone. Do not use if you have a cardiac condition, uncontrolled blood pressure, a seizure history, a respiratory condition, or are pregnant. Check with your doctor first if you take beta blockers, diuretics or other blood pressure medication. Never use after drinking alcohol. Never leave children unsupervised near a plunge — all Core Wellness plunges ship with a child-locking insulated lid.
A 300–700 litre volume holds one person deep or three seated, and the thermal mass is large enough that opening the lid does not lose the session. Pair it with a Core Chiller to hold any temperature from 3°C to 40°C — the chiller is sold separately and connects externally.
The insulated lid ships with a child lock as standard on every Core Wellness unit. That is a specification decision, not a factory default — a 400-litre open vessel of cold water in an Australian backyard is a drowning risk, and we are not shipping one without a lock.

What the research says
Evidence rating: plausible. Cold water immersion is widely used in athletic recovery and is associated with reduced perceived muscle soreness after training. Evidence on strength and hypertrophy adaptation is mixed, and some trials suggest immersion immediately after resistance training may blunt adaptation — so timing matters.
